This chart displays the number of refugees that the European Union (EU) member states were obliged to relocate from Greece, Hungary, and Italy, according to the European Commission proposal of September 2015. Out of the total of 120,000 refugees that were planned to be relocated, Germany was supposed to admit 31,443 persons, while Spain was assigned 14,931 persons. Only 631 refugees were to be transferred to Slovenia. The proposal was a response to a sharp increase in illegal border crossings.
